Applesauce is a much loved food in our house and with two little boys it can go rather quickly! We have 6 mature fruit trees, one of them being an apple tree. These apples are so tasty and there are so many of them I decided to start turning them into applesauce. I used only apples and water for the recipe, no added sugar for us! Another thought....I am not sure what type of apple tree we have, but I am guessing any type of apple(s) would work just fine!
Homemade Applesauce
8-10 medium apples
1 1/2 cups of water
Peel, slice and core the apples. Combine the water and apples in a cooking pot, cover and simmer for about 25 minutes or until apples are soft. Allow to cool and then either mash for slightly chunkier applesauce or place in blender to puree.
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera at home, so picture credit goes to Family Kitchen.
